About Me
I am a recently retired senior teacher and ICT curriculum adviser with over 30 years of experience in education. Throughout my career, I have held leadership roles in curriculum development and digital learning, but my true passion has always been the one-to-one connection with my students. I bring a wealth of expertise and a creative, tech-forward approach to every session to help students thrive.
Experience & Qualifications
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Computing alongside a PGCE. My career has involved leading curriculum innovation at both school and local authority levels, giving me a unique insight into how students learn. I specialise in:
Mathematics: Expert tuition for Primary and GCSE levels.
English: Focused support for Primary and KS3 students.
Specialist Support: Significant experience working with students who have additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, and those affected by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
My Teaching Style
Students find me to be an approachable, kind, and patient mentor. I understand that learning can feel overwhelming, so I focus on creating a "safe space" where no question is too small. My approach blends strong subject knowledge with a calm, encouraging environment, ensuring that students feel comfortable making mistakes—as this is where the best learning happens.
How I Help Students Succeed
My goal is to foster a sense of "I can do this" in every learner. By combining a gentle, patient manner with high academic standards, I help students achieve:
Resilience & Confidence: Building the self-belief needed to tackle difficult topics independently.
Measurable Progress: Identifying and closing learning gaps through structured, logical steps.
Exam Readiness: Preparing for SATS or GCSE Maths with practical strategies that reduce anxiety and improve performance.
My Personalised Approach
I believe that a tutor’s greatest tool is their ability to listen. Every session is bespoke; I adapt my pace and language to match the student’s needs on that specific day. Using my background in curriculum design, I provide structured plans and creative digital resources. Whether we are mastering primary phonics, tackling KS3 English literature, or navigating GCSE algebra, I ensure that every lesson is clear, manageable, and achievable.
