Example High-Quality Bio
Use this as a guide for structure and tone:
Bio Headline:
Experienced GCSE Maths and Science tutor helping students improve confidence, master key concepts, and achieve higher grades. I specialise in structured exam preparation and personalised support tailored to each student’s needs.
Full Bio:
I am an experienced tutor specialising in GCSE Maths and Science, with a strong track record of helping students improve both their understanding and exam performance. I have worked with a wide range of students, from those needing support with core concepts to those aiming for top grades.
My approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to each individual student. I begin by identifying areas of strength and weakness, then build a clear learning plan to target gaps in knowledge while reinforcing key skills. I place a strong emphasis on building confidence, as this is often the key to unlocking a student’s full potential.
Lessons are interactive and focused, combining clear explanations with exam-style practice to ensure students are fully prepared. I also provide guidance on exam technique, helping students approach questions strategically and manage their time effectively.
I am passionate about helping students not only improve their grades but also develop a deeper understanding of the subject. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and confident in their abilities.
5. DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) - Select whether you have a current DBS certificate. If you select “Yes” you must be willing to provide this to parents upon request.
Tutors with a DBS are more likely to be chosen by families. If you do not currently have a DBS, The CEC will be offering support for this in the summer
6. Contact Details - Provide your email address and telephone number. These allow parents to ask questions and discuss their child’s needs.
Important: If you are on the Growth Plan, lessons should be booked through the platform (not arranged externally)
7. Subjects & Levels - Select all subjects and levels you are confident teaching. Only select areas where you can deliver high-quality teaching.
8. Lesson Rate - Enter your lesson price as a whole number only, e.g example: 40 . Do not include: £, decimals, or text.
Your price should reflect your experience and level. There is no single, correct price for tutoring. Your rate should reflect your experience and qualifications, the level you teach (Primary, GCSE, A Level), your subject demand, and the results you deliver.
You can choose how much you charge, but be aware that if you are charging outside of the average, you may struggle to get students. Below is an indicator of current market prices for tutors based on their experience level:
Undergraduate / Student Tutors - £20 – £35 per hour
This may be you if you are studying a relevant degree and have limited teaching experience.
Graduate / Early Career Tutors - £30 – £45 per hour
This may be you if you have a degree in your subject and have some tutoring experience
Qualified Teachers - £40 – £65 per hour
This may be you if you have classroom experience and understand exam boards and marking criteria
Experienced / Specialist Tutors - £50 – £80+ per hour
This may be you suitable if you have proven results (grade improvements, exam success) and specialise in GCSE/A Level exam prep, teach high-demand subjects (Maths, Science)
Premium / Niche Specialists - £70 – £100+ per hour
Examples: A Level Further Maths, Oxbridge prep
