Experience & Qualifications

I have over 7 years of experience working in education, supporting students at secondary level through to university admissions. I hold a BA in English and Social Theory and I specialise in GCSE English Literature helping students decode texts, structure their arguments, and express their ideas clearly and confidently.

 

Before tutoring, I worked as a Student Advisor at MK College for four years, where I supported young people through some of the most pivotal stages of their academic journey. I understand not just the curriculum, but the pressures students face and how to help them navigate both.

 

My Teaching Style

I take a patient, encouraging approach that puts the student first. Every learner is different, so I take time at the start to understand where a student is struggling and what kind of support works best for them whether that's breaking down a difficult text together, building essay technique from scratch, or fine tuning exam responses for higher marks.

I don't believe in one size fits all teaching. Some students need structure and step-by-step guidance; others need space to think and a sounding board to build confidence. I adapt to whatever the student needs in that moment.

 

What I Help Students Achieve

 

My focus is always on outcomes that matter not just better grades, but a real understanding of the subject. Students I work with typically see improvements in their ability to analyse texts independently, construct well argued essays, and approach exam questions with clarity and calm. For many, the biggest shift is simply believing they can do it.

 

My Approach

Each session is tailored to the student's current needs, whether that means working through a specific set text, practising past paper questions, or building foundational skills in reading and writing. I use a mix of guided discussion, annotated practice, and structured planning techniques to make lessons feel productive without being overwhelming.

 

I believe the best results come from consistency, encouragement, and a tutor who genuinely cares and that's exactly what I bring to every session.
